MEDIUM SIZED MATURE – THINNER TRUNK This extremely rare palm species is native to only one location in New Caledonia where it lives at high elevation (up to 3000 feet) on steeply sloped and rocky mountainous rain forest. It is a solitary, crown-shafted pinnate palm that reaches a mature height of 20 to 30 feet. The crown shaft is a gray-tan color and often has older leaf bases attached and overlapping. Leaves are six to eight feet long with somewhat wide leaflets. The leaf stems are covered with whitish-gray tomentum. The trunk has thinly spaced leaf scars (rings). Most would grow this species in partial sun, perhaps morning sun. Cold hardiness is probably into the mid-twenties F. This is an extremely difficult palm species to find and we’re putting our 5 gallon size on sale. We have limited numbers available. REGULAR PRICE 5 GALLON $160 These can be mail ordered.
