AKA DYPSIS MADAGASCARENSIS SUCKERING & SINGLE TRUNK FORMS This species of palm is typically single trunk but there are also suckering forms. It also goes by the name of Dypsis madagascarensis. This post shows the suckering variety. It is native to island of Nossi-Be off the coast of Madagascar. It can reach heights of twenty to thirty feet. It has leaves arranged in three ranks – “tristichous”. Trunk diameters of this suckering form are thinner than the single trunk form. I’d estimate they’ll be 5 to 8 inches thick and prominently ringed. The crown shafts are a rusty-brown color and not elongated. It is a difficult species to find nowadays. I’d recommend growing it in full sun along the coast. I’d estimate cold hardiness to be in the mid-twenties F. REGULAR PRICE 15 GALLON $245 We only have a few of these left.
