This fruiting banana is from China and gets quite tall, especially if grown in a tropical environment. But, in this locality it is typically about 15 feet tall. It has broad green leaves and a six inch thick stem. It does sucker forming a clump of plants. It produces edible yellow fruit. It also is known to be somewhat cold hardy. Although it will freeze in weather below 32 degrees, often plants come back when it’s warmer. I’ve read that folks in zones 6 & 7 are growing this species. This species wants full sun.
