This super popular palm is native to south Florida and Cuba. It gets a very tall trunk with a height of forty feet or more. The crown shaft is long and a prominent green. The base of the trunk is swollen just above the ground. Often, you’ll also see bulging in the mid-trunk. It is a full sun plant and some are growing it in desert areas with success – in full sun. Cold tolerance is like a King Palm, about 25 degrees F. The 5 gallon we have are about four feet tall height in their pots. Basal diameter is about 2 inches. We also have 15g and bands. We are hoping to offer larger sizes than shown here shortly. There’s a shortage of this species on the California market. The Royal in the 8th photo was taken in San Diego.
