This majestic and rather tall fan palm is native to Mexico and get a mature height of 40 feet or a bit more in decades. But, the trunk is rather thin – averaging 8 to 12 inches. Retained leaf bases eventually fall off given it a smooth trunk with knobby areas of old leaf-base scars. The leaves are large and green in color. It prefers full sun and is cold hardy to about 20 degrees F. or a bit colder. We’re putting our 2 gallon size on special – easy to mail order
