Coccothrinax is a genus of small to medium sized fan palms that tend to have thin trunks. There are over fifty identified species. Most come from the Caribbean Islands although there are native Florida and Cuban species. Mature heights on almost all are under thirty feet. All want sun and many species are being easily grown in Southern California. Cold tolerance is estimated to be in the mid-twenties F. All love heat and sun.
The 5 gallon Coccothrinax below is an unidentified species. I can tell you what it’s definitely not but am not quite sure what it actually is. It has strikingly thin leaflets and is very silver on the underside of the leaflets as shown. I can pretty much guarantee that it’ll be a striking mid-size garden plant. I’m showing three different garden specimens of Coccothrinax below to give you a feel for this genus but none are this species. This plant can be mail ordered.
