Begonia are a very large class of plants, sometimes used in the garden and patio but also as houseplants. There are about 1500 different species or hybrids. This particular variety – Rex Begonia Firewoman – is different and very colorful. Leaves show prominent pink/red color with silver and purple bands. But they are not the easiest Begonia to grow. Leaves have a crinkled texture. They like filtered light with soil that is slightly damp but not soggy. It’s usually said that this species is for zones 10 and 11. We’ve found they can go down to almost a freeze. These plants have will have smaller pink blossoms in summer.
