This species of cycad is most closely related to Cz mexicana. It has about six foot stiff green leaves with wide leaflets that are also quite stiff. The leaf stems are armed. Overall height mature is about six feet. It tends to throw leaves horizontally. It is an understory species that wants filtered light. It is rare to find it for sale. The specimen shown here is coning size with a 6.5 to 7 inch caudex. It’s in a 15 gallon pot. This plant is cold hardy down into the low 20’s F. This is a very difficult cycad to find.
