This palm species is known for being wind tolerant. It gets to about 20 to 25 feet, has a think trunk with curved green leaves and a whitish crown shaft. It tolerates full sun along the coast and is cold tolerant into the upper 20’s F. It is called “rubrum” because young plants have some red color to the leaves. It is difficult to find in a nursery.
