This rare Madagascar palm gets to a height typically not over ten feet. Trunks are thin (2 to 3 inches) and ringed. It has a white crown shaft and sucker producing multiple trunks. Trunks can develop a blackish color below the white crown shaft as they mature. It is similar to other Dypsis species and takes part day sun and is cold hardy into the mid-twenties F.
