This species is the largest of any Macrozamia and is from Queensland, Australia. Trunk height can get to twenty feet. It has a fairly thick trunk to an 18 inch diameter or more. Leaves are also keeled. Leaf length can reach eight feet. So, give it some room when planted. A nice thing about this species is that it is fairly cold hardy for a cycad. I’ve gotten reports that it’s the easiest cycad to grow in the SF Bay area and can tolerate temperatures into the upper teens F. without protection. It is a full sun species.
