We are fortunate here in Southern California because there are quite a few striking, beautiful flowering tropical trees that we can grow. Included in this group is the African Tulip Tree with its clusters of large blossoms. Over 99% of the trees you’ll see have the orange or red-orange blossoms. Rarely you’ll see the yellow flower type. It blooms in summer but sometimes longer. It wants full sun. Cold hardiness is estimated to be in the mid-twenties F. It wants full sun.
