Cordyline australis are a group of plants that form small trees. There are various forms and species. Most popular are the colorful forms as shown here and above. This is the red form in a 5 gallon pot. It has thinner leaflets than the purple form. Both varieties take full coastal sun and are cold tolerant into the mid-twenties F. Anticipate a height of eight to ten feet in most localities. The trunks are thin as shown, rarely over 3-4 inches thick in the short term.
