GET UP TO ABOUT 8 FEET – SUCKERING SPECIES
COLD HARDY INTO THE UPPER TEENS F.
This type of Bamboo Palm is known for several things. First, it is one of the shorter true suckering and pinnate types of Chamaedorea. It gets to a mature height of about 8 feet. It is a great patio plant or can be grown inside quite easily. It is also one of the more cold hardy types of Chamaedorea, only being beat out by C. radicalis. It’ll go down to about 20 degrees F. or a bit lower. Leaf color is green and sometimes there are hints of blue, a blue iridescence or even blue leaflet backs on this species. Fruits are numerous and red in color. Trunks are very thin. I’d recommend filtered light for this species although some have grown in in coastal sun. Of note, it’s one of the more cold hardy Bamboo Palms around. The 15 gallon size are fruiting size and on sale.
