We at the nursery are very proud that we offer a good selection of these interesting New World fan palms – Coccothrinax. This particular species discussed here is native to the Caribbean region and gets to heights of about 30 feet in many decades. Leaf color is green to silver-green and trunks are typically six inches thick or a bit more. This species loves full hot sun and is cold tolerant into the mid-twenties F. Many are growing it with good success. In pots, all Coccothrinax are painfully slow. It’s taken us about eight years to grow the 15 size you see here. We do have other sizes for sale and multiple other species of this genus. In the ground they are much faster.
