VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND LATELY – BUT WE JOST GOT IN PLANTS
THE BEST “NEIGHBOR BLOCKER” PLANT
This is an attractive, suckering, thin trunked palm species is from Madagascar or surrounding areas. The number one reason people buy this species is “to hide something”. By this, I mean they want to hide a neighbor, an ugly next door structure, an unsightly fence, the side of a garage, etc. This is an ideal species for this purpose as it suckers and is fairly dense. You can’t see through it well. Mature height averages 14 feet in California. Cold hardiness is into the mid-twenties F. Trunk diameter is about 3 inches. It’ll take full sun along the coast and far inland areas must give it only morning or filtered sun. These 15g are 6 to 7 feet tall in their pots. The 25 gallon are more full, about 10 feet tall in their pots and developing thick trunks. We have limited numbers available. Areca Palms have been difficult to find lately and in short supply. These will most likely be gone quickly, especially the larger plants.
To get maximal privacy one would not cut off the small lower suckers. The squat 15g are shown in the first two rows of photos. The 25 gallon are shown in row three and four of photos. |
