Yes, this species of Fishtail is super fast growing. And, it’s not unusual for one to get above 70 feet tall. Some people love the grandeur of these palms. And, for some, they want it “right now”. Well, this is an opportunity to satisfy that need. It would not be unusual to go from a seedling to a height of 30 feet in six or seven years. This species is native to northern Thailand and surrounding countries. The trunk is about 16 inches or so thick and light tan in color. The leaves are compound – bipinnate. This means the main stem branches off into secondary leaf stems. Leaflets are jagged at their ends. Also, this is a monoecious palm that dies about three years after flowering. Expect a life span of about 15 years. It wants full coastal sun. It is taller than Caryota gigas and has shorter leaves and a thinner trunk. We’re putting nice one gallon juvenile plants on sale.
