KEELED, ARCHING GRAY-GREEN LEAVES
There is some type of seductive quality to this rare species – Dioon califanloi. I think it’s because of the compact, rigid, keeled and curved leaves. The leaves are very distinct and different – and very appealing. This is a species that takes on the mature appearance over time. As a young plant you might think it’s a “ho-hummer”. But, as it ages, it develops its traditional appearance and gets more attractive. Leaves are four to five feet long. In a domestic situation, a plant with a three foot trunk would be enormous. It takes full sun and is cold hardy into the lower 20’s F. The plant on sale is in a 5g container and has a 2.5 inch caudex.
Remember to mention this Blog Special for this price when you purchase. This plant can be shipped, weather permitting. |
