FULL CROWN OF GREEN LEAVES
This single trunk Syagrus is native to Brazil and only gets to heights of ten to twenty feet. The trunk is thin and clean over time. Leaves are somewhat plumose and green. Fruits are fairly large and yellow in color. Some comment that is is similar to S. picrophylla. It is a full sun palm with an, as of yet, unknown cold tolerance. I suspect it’ll go into the twenties for sure. It is a newly introduced species so there’s little cultural information. Note on the mature palm pictures that the leaves down go much below the spherical circle of crown leaves. I find this very appealing. I’m offering 5 gallon plants on special. They are hug for their pots. This is a very rare species to find. Mature plant photos below are by TS at RPS and Palmpedia.
