25 GALLON PLANTS AVAILABLE
We have available some 25g Mule Palms as shown below. For those who don’t know, this amazing hybrid doesn’t look like either parent. To make the Mule Palm, the seed bearing parent has to be the Butia capitata. The pollen donor is the Queen Palm. The reverse doesn’t produce a palm anything close to the Mule Palm.
They are remarkable because they are supper attractive. Some say they have a resemblance to a Coconut. They also usually just get to 25 feet – compared to the 60 foot height of the Queen. They want full sun. And, they are very cold hardy – down to about 16 degrees. Queens die at about 18 degrees. I’ve got a customer in Tucson, AZ that can’t grow Queen Palms b/c they freeze in the winter. Our Mule Palms thrive there. This hybrid tolerates desert sun. And, they don’t make any fruit to mess up your pool! This is why they are called the “Mule” Palm. What a combination of good qualities!
We’re putting the few 25g that we have on Ten Day Special. The plants shown below are too large for standard mail order but can be delivered. They are lush and gorgeous. This is a difficult palm to find but we do have larger sizes for sale..
