LIKES FULL HOT SUN
The ponytail palm is native to Mexico. It is known for it’s large and wise base. I’ve seen photos of a small Jeep parked on the base. Basal width can reach up to six feet across. The trunk, above this base is much thinner. Leaves are thin, somewhat flexible but have a sharp edge that can cut you. They do well in containers or in the ground. Some have grown them indoors if there’s very bright light. Cold tolerance is into the low twenties or below. They want full, hot sun. The 5 gallon on sale are oversized with 4 to 5 inch thick bases with an age of five to six years. This size is shown in the first 3 photos below. But, we also have larger sizes available. This size is is easy to mail order. Garden photos below by Wikipedia & Floridata websites.
