NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND
WE ARE OFFERING A 15 GALLON PANT ON SPECIAL
I have not shown this species that often because it’s rarely available and very difficult to find. It is native to Mexico at high elevations near Chiapas. It is a single trunk, understory palm that has sort of a thick trunk up to 1.5 or 2 inches. The flowers are reminiscent of Chamaedorea radicalis as they shoot high into the foliage. Its overall appearance is also similar to the trunking radicalis but with bigger leaves, wider leaflets and a thicker trunk. It gets up to about 10 to 15 feet.
It grows in filtered light and seems to be cold hardy into the mid-twenties at least. We have a few 15 gallons available (first six photos). Some pots have two plants per pot as does the one shown here – so there’s a chance to set some seeds. These can be mail ordered possibly in a huge box. I’m also putting this size on special. Please appreciate that this is a super rare species and is seldom offered for sale. For a Chamaedorea, it’s sort of expensive – granted. Note that the photos below show a female and male blossom which you’ll not see elsewhere.
