FATTEST TRUNK OF ANY PALM
This species is known at the Chilean Wine Palm. It can have trunk diameters up to four feet. To get a large trunking tree from a small plant can take several decades. Ultimate height can reach at least forty feet. Leaves are green and sometimes a blue-green color. The trunk is smooth and the fruit is yellow with a large brown seed inside. The leaf stems are unarmed. Cold hardiness in into the mid teens F. It’s a sun species, even in the desert. The plants on sale are in 2 gallon pots. This size can be shipped. You’d start them off in a little sun and over time move them into full sun. They can remain in these 2 gallon pots for a few years. This is a fairly slow growing palm.
