TOP OF LEAF – RED BLOTCHES ON GREEN
BOTTOM OF LEAF – MAROON
The plants I’m showing here are a non-fruiting type of ornamental Banana. Like most Bananas, it does sucker and the mature height is six to eight feet. It has light green leaves with attractive purple splotches and maroon underside. See photos below. It’d want full sun outdoors (along the coast) and should be cold tolerant well into the mid-twenties F. Some are also growing it as an indoor plant. We’re putting our one gallon on sale. See first six photos below. Also shown below is our 15g size of a similar Banana – Musa sumatana hybrid that looks quite similar to the one on sale. But, these 15 gallon plants will produce fruit. In the garden sumatrana zebrina wants at least half day sun. Cold hardiness is into the mid 20’s F.
