PRODUCES UNUSUAL TROPICAL FRUIT
CAN BE GROWN IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Litchi chinensis is native to provinces in China. It is being grown commercially in China, India and nearby countries. The unusual fruit produced has been enjoyed by people for over ten centuries. Mature trees can get over thirty feet tall. The fruit is pink to red and spiny. The fruit inside is clear and gelatinous. The taste is very tropical. It tolerates full sun and temperatures into the upper twenties F. The plants shown here were grown from seed. They are about inches tall and in easy to ship pots. They have seen a freeze at our nursery. The last two photos are c/o Wikipedia.
I only have several for sale. They can be mail ordered. |
