This fascinating hybrid was created by taking male pollen from E. princeps and applying it to a female cone of E. longifolius. This is an F1 hybrid. Both the parents are from South Africa and both were blue. My hopes are that the princeps will give it the beautiful blue color and glamour. We’re hoping that the E. longifolius seed bearer will give it stacking of the leaflets and very curved leaves. But, no one can be sure what this hybrid will look like. They are healthy band sized seedlings and already showing blue color. They should like coastal sun and be cold hardy into the low 20’s F. These bands have grown such that most now have three to four leaves. They’ll be much bluer with age and in the sun.
