This species of palm is typically single trunk but there are suckering forms. It is native to island of Nossi-Be off the coast of Madagascar. It can reach heights of over thirty feet. It has leaves arranged in three ranks – “tristichous”. Trunk diameter is about 8 inches and the crown shaft is a rusty-brown color and not elongated. Although I can’t be positive, I think this will be the single trunk form. This is a difficult species to find nowadays. I’d recommend growing it in full sun along the coast. I’d estimate cold hardiness to be in the mid-twenties F. The 15g size is shown below – and on sale!
