This attractive Mexican cycad is found in the areas of Oaxaca and Pueblo. It is a medium sized plant with stems up to about ten feet. The leaves are not particularly long, typically about four feet. The most notable thing about this species are the strongly keeled leaves with thin leaflets. By “keeled” I mean that the leaf, in cross section, looks like the keel of a boat. The color is green or gray-green. The leaflets are tightly spaced. It is a full sun plant and cold tolerant easily into the low 20’s F. It is a rare species to find at nurseries. This plant can be mail ordered. We do have similar plants this species.
