Staghorn Ferns and the group of Platycereium come from various tropical area of both the New World and Old World. Unlike most other ferns, this group grows epiphytically in trees – on branches and trunks. They do not harm the tree. This species has antler-like fronds or leaves and forms a shield near its base. The shield is green and fairly smooth. Very old plants become huge clusters or clumps in a tree. Plants can be grown in a basket, on a wooden plank or in a tree. They are not hard to grow. You just don’t let them go overly dry. We have various sizes at times and the one shown below is a well developed cluster.
