Yes, this species of Fishtail is super fast growing. And, it’s not unusual for one to get above 70 feet tall. Some people love the grandeur of these palms. And, for some, they want it “right now”. Well, this is an opportunity to satisfy that need. Planted out, once established, this is a super fast growing palm. It would not be unusual to go from a seedling to a height of 30 feet in six or seven years. This species is native to northern Thailand and surrounding countries. The trunk is about 16 inches or so thick and light tan in color. The leaves are compound – bipinnate. This means the main stem branches off into secondary leaf stems. Leaflets are jagged at their ends. Also, this is a monoecious palm that dies about three years after flowering It wants full coastal sun. It is taller than Caryota gigas and has shorter leaves and a thinner trunk. We’re putting young two-leaf seedlings on sale. Easy to mail order. BTW, these seedlings have probably thrown another leaf since these photos below were taken.
