NEVER GETS OVERLY LARGE – VERY COLD HARDY
This suckering Asian pinnate palm rarely gets over ten feet tall and has medium width leaflets that are jagged at their apical ends. The undersides of the leaflets are silver. But, from afar, it looks like a green palm. It is a clustering plant that suckers heavily and cannot be seen through. Therefore, it’s a good species to block visibility. Growth rate is slow. Mature height of this species is eight to fourteen feet. Cold tolerance is into the upper teens F. It can tolerate part day coastal sun or possibly full sun. Far inland areas should grow it in filtered light. Flowers are very fragrant but seeds contain a substance which makes the skin itch. The 15g on special are nicely sized for their pots with an age from germination of about 8 years.
