SUPER RARE MADAGASCAR PALM
Discovered by John Dransfield and named after a U.K. executive of Macdonald’s Hamburgers (who funded the expedition to Madagascar), this single trunk palm is new to the market, super rare and quite attractive. It has orange-brown leaf bases at the point of trunk attachment, plumose leaves and gets to a height of about 25 to 30 feet. It is single trunked with a medium thickness and prominent rings. It takes full sun in coastal areas and, once established, is a good growing palm. Shown here are our band sized seedlings. On occasion we have larger sizes for sale. These are easy to ship. Growers tell us that this species takes temperatures into the mid-20’s F. I know of several enthusiasts who live in cool areas and now have fruiting specimens of this species. It is an excellent grower.
