FLUFFY PLUMOSE LEAF
This is a species of plant from Madagascar. The name is a “locational” name – where the plant is from. I am unaware of an exact species name at this time. The seeds of this “species” first came out about twenty-five years ago. From seeds, some of these plants ended up being single trunk, others suckering. Seeds came from as private grower in El Cajon, CA. His tree has three trunks, see photo below. He said it was an easy grow in his full sun. I have a limited number of one gallon plants which I’m putting on sale. Leaves are quite plumose or “fluffy” in appearance. They seem to be reasonably cold hardy and should mature at heights under twenty feet. I’d give part day sun. The most similar species to these plants is Dypsis madagascarensis. The mature palm below was photographed by Al Bredison. It’s suckering with two trunks, possibly three. This species is recommended.
