LIMITED SUPPLY OF LARGE 15 GALLON AVAILABLE
We are pleased to post that we have just acquired some huge 15 gallon size of this sought after hybrid. This is a cold hardy hybrid that thrives in sun and heat. Cold tolerance is well into the teens F. See chart below for description. On the garden 7th and 8th photos below, my thanks to TS at RPS and unknown contributor on Palm talk for their photos. Incidentally, these can be shipped but it’d be expensive.
Locality: | Hybrid |
Cold Hardiness: | Probably 16 – 18 F. |
Trunk type: | Fat trunk with retained leaf bases. Not as fat as Jubaea, but much fatter than a Butia. |
Leaf type: | Pinnate with silver/green color, leaves tend to curve down a bit. |
Suckering/Solitary: | Solitary. |
Maintenance: | Easy. |
Speed of growth: | Slow to moderate. |
Height: | Uncertain- probably 30+ feet. |
Soil requirements: | Average. |
Sun Requirements: | Full. |
General Description: | This is a thick trunked palm that look just like one would expect from this hybrid. |
Other Notes: | Gives on a faster growing Jubaea-looking palm that can be of size without waiting decades. The Butia blood should give it good cold hardiness. |
