UPRIGHT LEAVES
FROM NEW CALEDONIA
Shown here is a gorgeous example of one of the more beautiful of the New Caledonian palms. Cyphophoenix nucele is from Lifou Island, gets to a height of twenty-five to thirty feet and takes strong filtered light or part day sun in most coastal areas. It has a thin trunk with lots of silver color. Leaves tend to but upright as opposed to C. elegans where the leaves are more arched. The last three pictures are from the late Mardi Darian’s garden in Vista, CA. You’ll notice how healthy it looks in strong filtered light. The nursery plant shown is a 15g but we also have 5g plants. I’d estimate the cold tolerance into the mid to upper twenties F. Very limited numbers are available. This plant can be shipped or delivered if needed. It was grown from seed and is about eight years old.
