SIMILAR TO DYPSIS LUTESCENS
BUT WHITE CROWN SHAFT
This thin trunked suckering palm is native to Madagascar where, in the northeastern area, it lives close to the sandy beaches. Thus the common name. It has green curved leaves with small leaflets. The tubular crown shaft is white and the thin trunk is ringed. It is distinguished from the Areca Palm by it’s reddish petioles and blue-green leaflets. It typically forms a clump of four to five individual plants. It tolerates coastal sun and is cold hardy in the mid to upper 20’s F. It is as rare species. We rarely have it for sale. Note, our band size are larger presently than shown below.
