Fan palm enthusiast know that Pritchardia martii is one of the hardest of the Pritchardia genus to locate. We are presently offering nice five gallon plants on special as shown here. It is native to the island of Oahu where it grows at elevations of up to one half mile on mountain ridges. It has a trunk that’s not thick and can get wide leaves up to six feet across. Leaves are pleated and green on top with a rusty-silver color underneath. Overall height can get to 20 feet but most domestic trees I’ve seen are much shorter than thin. In our area along the coast, this species tolerates full sun. Cold tolerance is in the mid-twenties F. Inland areas do best with a small amount of sun or filtered light.
