This species is known at the Chilean Wine Palm. It can have trunk diameters up to four feet. To get a large trunking tree from a small plant can take several decades. Ultimate height can reach at least forty feet. Leaves are green and sometimes a blue-green color. The trunk is smooth and the fruit is yellow with a large brown seed inside. The leaf stems are unarmed. Cold hardiness in into the mid teens F. It’s a sun species, even in the desert. The plants on sale are truly massive 15 gallon specimens. On some, the trunk almost fills the 15 inch diameter pot. Also, notice the somewhat blue petioles. These may end up being the blue variety of the Chilean Wine Palm. On Special are five gallon sized plants that are ready to ship or plant. You’d start them off in a little sun and over time move them into full sun. We’ve found that young plant don’t do well if thrown into full hot sun. Limited numbers.
