The popular King Palm is also known as the Piccabeen Palm or Bangalow palm. It is native to several areas in Australia. It can in habitat get to sixty feet tall, but in Southern California is usually not over 40 feet tall. It is crown shafted with a gray trunk. The crown shaft is green with some brown speckled areas. Leaf length is 8 to 10 feet. It is extremely popular in Southern California. There are other species of King Palms Archontophoenix) and we also grow them. On this variety shown below, ramenta is present on the back of the leaflets, a hallmark of this species. Cold tolerance is about 25 degrees F. The singles & triples we’re putting on sale are in the 15g size and are about as tall as you can get in this pot size. The triples are ten feet tall in their pots and the single are about 12 to 13 feet. Culture is the same on both. We’re putting both sizes on a Ten Day Special but after this all that don’t sell will be moved into 25 gallon pots. These 15g are way too big for mail order.
