Native to Chile, this slow growing pinnate palm gets the fattest trunk of any palm. Trunk diameters can reach up to four feet. Mature height can be over forty feet in fifty years. In a container, growth is unbearably slow. To get a nice 15 gallon takes seven to ten years. They do grow a bit faster in the ground. It takes full sun and is cold hardy to sixteen degrees F. Plants offered in the 15g size below have a basal diameter of four to six inches.
