Description below Common Names: Satakentia Palm Locality: Ryukyu Islands, Japan (Southern Japan) Cold Hardiness: Probably about 32º F. Trunk Type: Thin trunk, nice dark crown shaft, beautiful crown. Leaf Type: Pinnate, about 10 feet long, ornamental. Suckering/Solitary: Solitary Maintenance: Difficult in cooler areas. Easily grown in subtropical and tropical areas. Speed of growth: Medium Height: To about 30 feet. Soil requirements: Rich, well draining. Sun requirements: Full sun when larger, probably filtered when seedling. General Description: One of the more beautiful palms in the world. It would be on most people’s top 30 species. It is graceful, elegant, tropical appearing and rare. If you’re warm enough, it’s worth trying to grow. Very sought after. |
