FATTEST TRUNK OF ANY PALM
This species is known at the Chilean Wine Palm. It can have trunk diameters up to four feet. To get a large trunking tree from a small plant can take several decades. Ultimate height can reach at least forty feet. Leaves are green and sometimes a blue-green color. The trunk is smooth and the fruit is yellow with a large brown seed inside. This palm requires full sun and can be grow in far inland areas. They are also growing them in cooler areas like Northern California. Cold tolerance is down to about 16 degrees F. The leaf stems are unarmed. It’s a sun species, even in the desert. On Special are five gallon sized plants that are ready to ship or plant. You’d start them off in a little sun and over time move them into full sun. Limited numbers.
