DYPSIS PLUMOSA THIN TRUNK PALM FROM MADAGASCAR

FLUFFY LEAVES – SILVER CROWN SHAFT
TOLERATES SUN ALONG THE COAST

This single trunk, crown shafted pinnate palm comes from Madagascar. It is a medium size palm with a narrow trunk and plumose leaves. Trunk diameter is four to six inches. The trunk color is silver-green and it has prominent rings. Leaflets are narrow and green in color. The ends of the leaves curve downwards. We have been growing this species for over two decades and found it to be a reliable grower. When young the trunk is much thinner but fattens up with age. It is quite cold tolerant, down into the mid to low 20’s F. It’s growth rate is good. It likes full sun in most areas. We are offering very tall 5 gallon plants on sale. These 5g plants are about six feet tall. So, for mail order, they’d take a very tall box. The last photo is c/o TS at RPS.
