THIN TRUNK, ARCHING LEAVES, WHITE CROWN SHAFT
For quite a few years, palm enthusiasts have been familiar with this rare species from Madagascar. It has been called “Dypsis species bef”. But, to this day, it has no accepted botanical name. It has a rather narrow ringed trunk with arching and keeled green leaves. The crown shaft is white. It is medium sized with a height of about 20 feet. The garden specimen is c/o Steve S., PalmPedia. As a nursery plant it has soft green relaxed leaves with hanging leaflets. But, when older, it is firmly keeled. The first six photos show the plants on special. This size is easy to ship. This species will take coastal sun. Cold tolerance is unknown although I’d guess it’s in the mid-twenties F.
